It’s been a busy week! The reports and agenda items for the 6th August SGM will be sent to you all on Thursday. A lot of work has gone into the preparation for this SGM and I would like to thank all the Committee Members, in particular our Treasurer, our Secretary and our staff who have been helping. It’s not easy re-doing budgets etc. in a post-COVID world. I would urge you to read the advance material ahead of the meeting; the reasons for the proposed rules changes are set out clearly and so it should be quite obvious that these are enhancements that will benefit all of us and help put our Club on a sound footing for the future.
Immediately prior to the SGM, Mrs Allison Williams, will be christening “Knot Mine”, the Club boatshare, and as many who would like to attend this are welcome to do so: meet on the dock at 5.45pm and hopefully we’ll have enough bubbly for everyone to have a small taste – but not too much so as to delay the SGM!
Also, don’t forget to book a table to stay at the Club for supper after the meeting! In the past, associate members have been invited to attend formal meetings, even without being allowed to vote. We may be able to do this on 6th, but it will depend upon how many Full Members attend the SGM as we are still restricted to 50 people inside. Thank you for your understanding of this requirement; we’ll join you downstairs afterwards!
Sadly, it seems that in spite of the gentle reminder a few weeks ago about being considerate to other members with regards to the ice machine at the Club, this problem has, if anything, got worse. Dare I say it? Members are STEALING ice and non-members too. Please stop! For the hatted and masked invader who helped himself to 5 bags of ice, without signing the chit, early last Saturday morning and responded rudely to when challenged by a maintenance staff member. Our message to you is that we have you on CCTV and your account is about to be charged a $300 fine and we would ask you to please apologize to the staff member for your appalling behaviour.
I look forward to seeing you all around the Club over the coming week – sorry if I’m not very good at greeting you all when you are seated at your tables; I knew Willie would be a tough act to follow, but the mask makes it impossible! I confess that I do hate wearing it; I find it so difficult to hear and talk with it on. Sadly, I fear I will just have to get used to it…….
